Hi, I’m Paul

Paul is the owner and operator of Flying Cow Upholstery, an aviation upholstery business located in Savannah, Georgia. He reupholsters seats, does carpets, headliners, leather wraps yokes, and fits and installs Jet Shades. Paul also works on yachts and with local hotels fulfilling their upholstery needs.

Paul has started several businesses, including Grant's Handcrafted Collection, which built aviation furniture and decor, Lodgepole Leather Goods, which crafted small leather goods; and Paul Hawkins Design, which served as an ergonomic product manufacturing business making body cushions for Gulfstream Aerospace, a freelance graphic design business creating logos, promotional materials, and websites, and as a licensed contracting home renovation business.

Paul attended the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), earning a BFA in Industrial design. Paul's noteworthy projects while studying at SCAD were his handmade wood strip canoe, showcased in the school magazine, and his senior project, the "Swing Jump," a one-of-a-kind playground structure designed to make a children's playground a place where the whole family can play. While earning his degree, he interned with Gulfstream Aerospace and worked for 24e Design Co.

Before College, Paul was selected to participate in the Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange Program, in which Paul lived and worked in Germany for one year. During this time, Paul learned to speak German, lived with a host family, and worked with three cabinetry companies honing his woodworking skills and learning about manufacturing processes.

Paul has always been a maker; he has always had a project. When Paul was young, he worked with wood with his father, and at the age twelve, Paul learned to weld. His high school senior project was refinishing a sixteen-foot mahogany ski boat.

Paul is an Industrial Designer and a skilled craftsman. He is a spatial thinker and can visualize things clearly in his mind. He pays attention to detail and takes the time to do things right. Paul is an outdoorsman; he enjoys hiking mountains, skiing, and canoeing with his dog.
